As with many progressive towns, it is difficult to characterize the city centre of Durban, since development often necessitates the demolition of well-known landmarks. Structures of interest discussed in this article include the Trust Building, the Standard Bank, Adams Stationers and Booksellers, Greenacres, Colombo Tea and Coffee Shop, Chix, the Natal College for Advanced Technical Education and the Students' Union.
